It was constituted as a private university on July 24, 2000 and was granted the 501 (c) 3 tax exempt status on November 3, 2003. It was conceived to serve Colombian, Hispanic and the non-served populations in the United States as well as Worldwide. UNAD Florida is licensed as a distance online university by the Independent Education Commission of the Florida Department of Education.
